"Coats for Kids"

During the week of 21 through 28 October 2007, the Crystal Coast Chief Petty Officers Association sponsored a “Coats For Kids” coat drive to collect new and gently used coats for needy children in coastal North Carolina.  The Chiefs partnered with Coast Guard Station Fort Macon, Wrightsville Beach, and Oak Island boat crews to collect over 140 coats for local children.  Assisting the Chiefs in this endeavor, were local corporate donations from Wal-Mart, Belk, and Target.  Also local dry cleaners volunteered their services to dry clean any used coats received at no cost.  The Crystal Coast Chief Petty Officers would like to extend their appreciation to the station boat crews that assisted as well as to the corporations and community members that donated to this worth cause.
